先前以推出點對點 (P2P)下載工具「BitTorrent」聞名的BitTorrent，目前計畫將推出全新即時通訊軟體「BitTorrent Chat」，標榜將提供確保隱私、安全，並且免費使用。目前將先以開放前期測試為主，預計在取得相關測試回應後推出正式版本。

BitTorrent宣布將因應多數即時通訊服務面臨被監聽、竊取個資等問題，預計將以本身「BitTorrent」P2P技術提供更加隱私、安全，同時免費使用的即時通訊服務「BitTorrent Chat」。根據BitTorrent表示，新服務將可避免遭他人監聽、並且透過點對點連接傳遞訊息封包。

目前「BitTorrent Chat」將先以前期測試開放使用者申請，預計在取得相關回應與想法分享後推出正式服務。
