行政院研究發展考核委員會21日表示，免費無線上網服務「iTaiwan」的帳號註冊人數達180萬人，累計使用人次已超過3000萬人次。

研考會還說，近期將推動iTaiwan與教育部學術網路（TANet）在全台逾4000所校園無線網路的雙向漫遊，並與地方政府合作擴大上網據點，未來民眾除了可以在全國超過4600個iTaiwan熱點免費無線上網，還可以用iTaiwan帳號暢遊全國逾1萬6000多個公眾及校園熱點，一個帳號暢遊全台，民眾跟學生都能受惠。而大眾運輸節點及台鐵的多個車站，因為通勤量大，使用人次較為密集，是最多人愛用跟品質最受肯定的熱點。

另外，目前全國最東邊、最西邊熱點分別為交通部蘭嶼郵局、金門烈嶼郵局；最南邊熱點則是內政部墾丁鵝鑾鼻公園，最北邊熱點則為交通部馬祖東引遊客中心，而全國最高海拔熱點則為農委會東勢林區管理處合歡山松雪樓，標高3150公尺。
