根據統計，在 Google Play 中前 100 名收入最高的 App 中，有 96% 是免費的，僅有 4% 為付費軟體。而在 App Store 中，收入最高的 iPhone 軟體有 77% 是免費的，而 iPad 軟體則有 69% 為免費軟體。
這個統計顯示了其實程式開發者利用 in-app 付費和廣告，其實比付費下載更為賺錢，尤其在 Android 平台上更是如此。因此如果你是程式開發者，與其為你的App 加上一個價格標籤，不如加入廣告或吸引人的 in-App 購買方案更能夠賺錢。
